On the ground in Wheaton
What the tech landscape actually looks like here.
The tech landscape in Wheaton looks nothing like a template. Homes near Cantigny Park tend to run into century-old homes near the college with plaster walls, while Historic District and Arrowhead more often need help with home offices for professors/consultants needing quiet, reliable uplinks. That mix — old buildings, new work-from-home patterns, and small businesses tucked into residential streets — is where we spend most of our time in DuPage County. About 22 minutes west on Roosevelt.
- We've done a lot of camera and doorbell installs in Arrowhead where home offices for professors/consultants needing quiet, reliable uplinks made the previous setup unreliable.
- On the Briarcliffe side of Wheaton, the typical fix for century-old homes near the college with plaster walls is relocating the router and adding one PoE access point at the far end of the house.
- Homes within a few blocks of Cantigny Park tend to see home offices for professors/consultants needing quiet, reliable uplinks; we plan the network with that in mind before running any cable.
- Around Historic District, we regularly solve century-old homes near the college with plaster walls — usually with a wired access point instead of another mesh node.
"Our small business near Historic District was losing sales every time the Wi‑Fi dropped. Turned out home offices for professors/consultants needing quiet, reliable uplinks. Waypoint had us stable inside two hours and it's been rock-solid since."
